Wellness Wednesday! has been something now that we've been hosting for a couple of years, and if this is the first time you've connected to either this podcast or you're watching this live, welcome! We are here to share root cause solutions and really help you to understand that, our purpose is to help you simplify your wellness routine and amplify your results, because I know That there is so much information out there in regard to your health. Right? Every… I think even when you're on social media, every other scroll is somebody trying to sell you their wellness routine, and truly, we know that root cause is everything. We know that we are set apart in the wellness world, as the activation company. And every Wednesday, we come with information to share with you really why you may want to consider to adding this to your future and to your health. I myself have been on Protandem specifically for about 14 years now, and in fact, I have to tell you this, I got off the products for about 2 weeks because my naturopathic doctor wanted to run a bunch of tests. And it's one of those things where I think people say. Have I really noticed a difference on this product? I'm not sure. But I'm telling you, when you've really done this for a long period of time and you get off, I'm telling you, I was climbing the walls. So we're excited. I'm excited to welcome my dear friend, Holly Nesbitt, on the call tonight. And Holly has been a functional health practitioner for about 7 years. She has helped hundreds of people, and Holly tonight is going to be sharing with you all about autoimmune and thyroid. And we know that the traditional medical system doesn't provide a lot of answers. Because there's so many layers, and we know that the toxic environment that we live in and all of these things play a role. But we do know, you guys, that we have a solution. And when you look at the body as a whole, and when you understand that root cause is the foundation of that. The body is the miracle, and we truly believe that when the body is given what it needs, it can really go to work and do what it needs to do to heal itself, so… Holly, thank you for being here. Holly and I have worked together now for about 6 years, and to see her grow has been just truly phenomenal. And when I met Holly, I have to say this, Holly, I don't know if you mind me sharing your story, because I'm going to have you kind of expand on it a bit, but she was about 90 pounds, she was dealing with autoimmune issues, mold toxicity, SIBO, and a bunch of other things, and The reason that she's here sharing with you 6 years later is because she has found just incredible results with these products, foundationally, and so, Holly, thank you for being here. Before we dive into kind of the meat and potatoes of thyroid and autoimmune, will you just share your story, and why you are so passionate about the LifeVantage products, and why people may need to consider this for their family and their future? Absolutely. Well, thank you so much for having me on tonight, Jenny. Honestly, it's an honor, and… Like you had mentioned, I was just in a really bad place in my health, and doing a lot of the right things that we are suggested to do. You know, eating a clean diet, getting enough sleep, taking a lot of supplements, but I really wasn't getting down to the actual root cause of what was going on. I didn't really know how, and whenever I was dealing with all of these things, a lot of my… medical professionals that I was working with at the time were offering me different medications, and I was kind of trying to piece things together on my own. Things really weren't working out, because clearly, I was 89 pounds, very, very sick. have been diagnosed with celiac, also thyroid issues, and gut issues, and it was really a mess, and it wasn't until I really got educated on how to heal the body naturally, and going more deeper into what is the root cause, what's going on in the gut, what's going on, in your environment, and all of that, and addressing those things that my body started healing. And here we are, and honestly, I… that whole journey was something I would never want to go through again. It was horrible, but I realize and recognize now on the other side, it was for a purpose. And that's why I'm so passionate about showing up today and sharing all that I share, because truly, I believe your body was created to heal itself, it just needs the proper environment. So, that's a little recap… short version of my story. I love it, Holly. And I know that, you know, I kind of mentioned this as we started this podcast and this, and this, meeting tonight, is… People aren't getting answers, and I feel like traditional lab markers, it's one of those things where people are like, oh my gosh, I'm feeling this way, I'm having all these symptoms, and then they go to the doctor, and they get the testing done, and they're told, well, your thyroid looks normal, it's within normal range, like, they're told, maybe it's not… maybe it's not really going on, maybe it's in your head, you know, we hear that a lot. Because the traditional medical system is not designed to understand root cause, and when you understand autoimmune and the complexity and the layers that that has going on, you can see why there's so many people that really kind of get either misdiagnosed, their symptoms and their issues are not addressed. So let's talk about lab markers, because I know that you know this well. And let's talk about how those lab markers are sometimes misindicators of what's really going on. So. Sometimes people go and get their thyroid tested, right? And what they're not realizing is that even if they have an imbalance, what happens… like, where does that… where does kind of the breakdown happen with those lab markers, and what advice can you give to people that may be dealing with thyroid issues, or autoimmune issues, or maybe they just don't know where to start? Like, let us… let's talk about the lab markers and kind of the indicators there. Yeah, so there are thyroid panels, obviously, that your doctor can run. I personally, where things really got narrowed in for me was when I started paying attention and recognizing that there was two thyroid markers to pay attention to when it comes to thyroid and autoimmune connection, and that is the thyroid peroxidase antibodies. It can also be, abbreviated as TPO, or thyroglobulin antibodies, which can be, abbreviated as TPOAB. And those… if those are elevated on your lab markers, then you… that is an indication that there's an autoimmune response happening, it's starting, something's going on. So… you can have an imbalance in your thyroid and not even have those markers, or you can have an imbalance in your thyroid and have those markers, and if that's happening, that's really an indication to say, hmm, my immune system is, you know, things are going on autoimmune-wise, why is my immune system overreactive, and what can I start doing about it to improve it? And let me ask you this, because I know that people go and they get their thyroid checked all the time. Is this TPO, lab marker, is that something that the average doctor will run? Or, okay, it's not something that… They can, sometimes they don't. I've actually had to request it before and ask. If you're, like, at a primary doctor or something, and they… they don't, a lot of times they'll just run a thyroid panel and maybe sometimes leave it out. And I think that that's, personally, I… I think it should be included, because if you're not feeling well and you're having all these symptoms, you're going to want to know if there's also an autoimmune response happening. That's… So let's talk about, like, some of the symptoms somebody may be dealing with, because I feel like there are people that have this going on, they don't know what their symptoms are, and so what are some of the symptoms of thyroid being dysregulated, maybe a pre-indicator of autoimmune issues? Like, let's talk about that, because I feel like this is going to be eye-opening for a lot of people that are just hearing this the first time. that, like, oh my gosh, that's why I've been experiencing this symptom or that symptom. So let's talk about what that looks like. So, a lot of times you can have, issues with regulating your body temperature, so you can be really, really cold. My friends used to send me the emojis and, jokes of, you always have that one friend who's freezing, and the person would have, like, 10 coats on. I'm like, yeah, that's me, so you could be really, really cold all the time, even though you really shouldn't be. Your hair can be breaking or falling out. you can have weight gain that you just can't get off. Really brittle nails is… often happens. Feeling really fatigued and having a lot of brain fog. And another one is digestive issues. So you can have a lot of, like, IBS-type digestive issues that really plague you, day in and day out. And honestly, on any given day, you could be dealing with multiple or all All of these going on consistently. Right. And then, you know, in regard to thyroid, like, obviously you have hypo, hyperthyroidism, that is considered technically an autoimmune issue. What other layered effects can happen in regard to that? Like, you know, those symptoms and things like that, like… Yeah. thyroid or autoimmune can be the big ol', you know, that's where you start, but let's talk about that, because I think it will help people to kind of understand maybe what's going on, with their life. Like, the root causes and, like, the triggers, is that what you mean? X. Yeah, so whenever I, you know, and I am a forever learner, I certainly don't know everything. I'm just sharing what happened, kind of, like, my journey, and what happened to me, my experience. But what I've learned through going through my own thyroid autoimmune issues is that there really are root causes as to why your thyroid is is, you know, having a problem, and really, it comes down to a handful of things, and I feel like in the functional medicine space, these are the things that a lot of holistic functional medicine doctors will look for. They'll look for viral or bacterial infections going on in your body. Sometimes you could have things like Epstein-Barr virus going on and you not know it. You could have parasites and not know it. That's probably a topic for a whole other day. I know Jenny likes to talk about parasites, and you could also have environmental toxicities happening to you. That could be things like mold in your environment. You could also have, high endocrine disruptors in personal care products. Another thing is you could have leaky gut. Happening, which is basically… The lining of your digestive system is getting weakened, you're eating your food, your lining of your digestive system has little holes in it, you don't know this, because they're microscopic little holes. You're eating your food, your food is escaping through your intestinal tract and into your bloodstream, and your body's like, wait, that's not supposed to be there, so it fires at it to get rid of it, fires at your thyroid, now your body's attacking your thyroid, I say that with quotation marks, because your body's actually trying to help itself, it's not just randomly attacking itself. And some other Some other triggers could be high stress. When we're under really high stress, we actually have… we produce less stomach acid, and we need our stomach acid to absorb our nutrients, which is another… could be another root cause. You could have different deficiencies in selenium and vitamin D, and I would say another root cause, that can just kind of contribute is… gluten in the diet, because gluten actually raises zonulin, which makes that leaky gut, the walls of your gut, thinner and more weaker and more prone to leaky gut. So those are just some Yeah. You know, rabbit trails to kind of go down. There's so many rabbit trails, and like, our, you know, the problem with our food system is the glyphosate and the toxicity and all the things that they're spraying on our food source. the nutrients in our… so you figure all of these different issues, and then you layer our environment, meaning that, like, our food, the nutrient density in our food is way less, because of the way that we're farming, and because of all these things that we're doing, and it being exposed to these toxic chemicals. I love that you brought up underlying pathogens, because this is a passion of mine. Like, we talk about… my mom was actually diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer About 6 years ago, 5 or 6… between 5 and 6 years ago, and what we found is that there were underlying stealth infections that were plaguing her body. So those are things like… and Holly, you dealt with this. You had mold in your house, this was part of why you had issues with all of these things, your autoimmune, because of these toxins in our environment. And so, if you're not addressing the toxic load. Then really, kind of, we're not able to build upon that. And that is why I love the solution of Protandem being the foundation, and our products, because our products really address root cause, right? We're opening up detox pathways, we're really finding ways to be able to hack the system. I love the concept of biohacking and what that looks like, and we're able to do that with this product. And so, I can't even tell you, Holly, I mean, let's go back to kind of, like, you were doing all the things. I think you were spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars a month on your health, not finding the solution. And so, let's talk about root cause and why these products, primarily Protandem, our foundational line. We have NRF1, NRF2, and NAD, why they are so foundational at taking the load off the body and clearing those toxins so that the body can then do the work that it's designed to do. So let's talk a little bit about that, and really where you see the difference between this and the thousands of other things that you were told to do. Yeah, I love that question, because really, truly, it's all in… the magic is all in the activation, that technology of activating your body to perform better, work better. So, for me, I mean, a big part of my thyroid issues, I had terrible brain fog. and terrible fatigue, okay? Like, it was really bad. And I also had a lot of gut issues. And so, for me. the… specifically the Protandem, NRF2, and NRF1, and the Axio, and also the collagen. I would say those are, like, my… my forever, like, non-negotiables, but when you can reduce, the oxidative stress in the brain, you're really able to calm down your… your brain and get a lot of relief with brain fog. Not to mention, you also are giving yourself good B vitamins and Axio, which really help with your energy. But the other thing is, A lot of ladies with thyroid issues have severe fatigue. They just… feel bleh most of the days. That's how I could describe it as bleh. Like, and the NRF1 helps with your mitochondria, and your mitochondria is the part of your cell that makes your energy. So, when you think about energy, I don't want you to think about coffee, drinking it, having a, you know, a high and then a crash. It's stamina. It's being stronger, being able to get through your day better. So it's really addressing energy energy production, so you feel like you have more energy, you're stronger. It's addressing your brain health, so the brain fog is able to, you know, subside, and then you're also really addressing, with the NRF2, you're addressing your cellular health, and when your cells are healthy, your organs are healthy. And you're able… the NRF2 and NRF1 really do help your body, to flush out toxins and junk, and that is really important because your thyroid gland's very sensitive to toxins. For me, collagen was really great, because collagen is actually really important for your gut lining, whenever you need to have a healthy gut lining. So, those are things that… and it's not just taking collagen, it's getting your body to make more of its own. And that's what I was missing. I was trying to supplement with a lot of these things. I was actually taking a mitochondria supplement, and a collagen supplement, and it wasn't getting the job done, because when you can get your body to start making its own. the magic is. So that's how I would describe what products, but I also want to say, if you're listening to this, and you're having thyroid issues, and you're miserable, and you're like, oh my gosh, this is so many things to, like, weed through, I get it, and I do have a couple other extra, like, lifestyle things that I'd love to share, because I think you have to keep it really simple, like, definitely get with the person that invited you here so you can learn more. Like, about the products, because… them in and of themselves is going to help you to have more energy, to have less brain fog, and don't you think you could get through your day a lot better to apply healthier lifestyles if you had that? Like, that's really the key. I don't know if you want to go into healthy, like, healthier lifestyles. I think… I think giving tips there would be huge, because, I mean, where do you start? And, you know, I think it's… it's so important to start simply, like, think about what you can remove, because you have control over that. Like, you know, maybe it's the food, maybe it's the toxins in your… in your, body products, like, whatever. Yeah, let's talk about a few tips there, and then, I also want to talk about the stress response. We'll get into that after you kind of touch on this, but I think it's great. Okay. Well, I would say, if you are… if you're having thyroid issues, just consider, like, I'm just gonna give you a few things. Maybe this one isn't for you, you're not there yet. I know, like, mentally, it's… you gotta figure… figure this out on your own path, but consider going gluten-free for 30 days. That's it. Just try it for 30 days, and see if you can move the needle forward in less digestive issues, less brain fog, your gut and brain connected, and a really simple app, I'm like an app girl, is Find Me Gluten Free. You can download that app, and you can type in anywhere you're at, if you're traveling, or anywhere you want to go, and it will help you find gluten-free restaurants and gluten-free options, and that makes things easier. Another one is like you have mentioned, Jenny, like, screening your products for chemicals, which… I don't know about you, but when I first started with that, I would flip things around. There was a million long list, and I'm like, I don't freaking know. So, what I did was I got an app, and it's EWG, Healthy Living. A lot of us know about that app, but if you don't, that's a free app you can download when you go shopping. just start screening your… the things that you're mostly gonna use, your soap, your lotion, your deodorant, and also your, your, laundry detergent. Because those are all things that are, like, on your body, and your skin's absorbing all day long. I just started with, like, those top 4 ones. Another one is prioritize saying yes or no. And this was a hard one for me, but you have to say. Sorry, I can't do that. Like, if your plate is too full, you can't just be go, go, go and push through the stress. You really do need to prioritize, like, calming down and not being so stressed out. So yeah, those are just a few, like, lifestyle tips that can really help you. Like, let's say you're taking the products, but you want to do more. You're really trying to heal. Those are some things you can lean into, to do as well. That can be really helpful. I love it. And so, let's talk about the stress response, because anytime that you can quiet the stress response, you know, the body can really come in where it needs to be. And we have all of these different mechanisms inside of our body that are created to heal itself. And in fact, one of the most phenomenal things that's kind of opened my eyes is that, you know, when you're dealing, let's say, with cancer or something like that, the cancer, when it develops a tumor, is actually the body's way of protecting itself. Like, our bodies are so innately designed, so anytime that you can quiet the stress response, that's pretty incredible, right? So, what we found, and I was really excited to hear this, but our new study on our True Science Liquid Collagen talks all about how it actually quiets the stress response in the body. So, when we think collagen, we think oh my gosh, like, this is skin, hair, nails. Well, that's not where collagen and the benefits of taking a collagen that's actually doing the work, it's more than that, right? Like you mentioned, it's the gut lining, it's the brain lining, it's all of the things, like, our body is made up of collagen. And as we age, that collagen production really stops producing like it needs to, right? So I think by the time we're 25, Our collagen production goes down by, like, 30-50%, which is crazy. Your body is designed, it's like turning on a light switch, right? And that's really the difference between, you know, activation versus supplementation, which we know requires a lot of guesswork. In fact, one of my very dear friends, she came to my house, she was working with a naturopathic doctor, she had thyroid issues, autoimmune issues like crazy, she came with a big bag of supplements, we were able to reduce that right, to what I call the Nrf1, Nerf2 axial and collagen. She was able to get off of 90% of those. I think she takes 2 other supplements in between, and her thyroid has come back into normal range. It's crazy. And so that's kind of just one example. We're not here to say we treat, cure, prevent, or mitigate disease, but when the body is empowered, the body is the miracle. So, let's talk a little bit about, really, Holly, root cause, and I know we've touched on it a little bit. But as we end our talk today, like, what can you, like, just encourage people that may be struggling with this issue, or maybe just not feeling well, how can you encourage them to really kind of move the needle forward? And I know you gave us a few tips, but let's kind of expand on that a little bit. Yeah, well, I mean, I think a lot of it, too, comes down to your mental and emotional health and ability to really wrap your mind around what you need to do. And honestly, be emotionally prepared to say, okay, I'm gonna, you know, step out and start making these changes, because it takes a lot of effort, and it takes sometimes, you know, especially when you're talking about your food. That's hard, because our food is social, and there's parties, and there's gatherings, and so… I would really say have a support system, have a friend, have some people that are, you know, willing to support you and encourage you, and I think that that's… honestly, gold, and whenever you're trying to make, changes. So, that's the other thing I would… I would add, and I was looking, at the chat, too, and somebody asked, well, I have my thyroid removed, like, could this help me? And I love that question, and I would say all the more reason to use these activation products, because you're talking about removing an organ, your body, when you're able to support all of your systems in your body, you… you need… you need that support. Like, I… I lost my gall… I didn't lose my thyroid, but I lost my gallbladder along this whole journey. And so, you know, I… I take bile salts and things when I eat my food, but, like, the products completely supported all other areas of my digestive health. to strengthen all of it, and my body as a whole, and it will do the same for you, so… That… that's the answer to that. And as we… as we end, I know we'd be remiss in not talking about our brand new P84 product, our gut support product, because when you think about gut health, it's foundational. When you talk about absorption, I mean, you can take supplements and do all the things all day long, but if you're not actually absorbing those things, you know, it's really just you're paying to just, you know. get it out of your body, and then it's not really absorbing. So, that's why I love the P84. And, you know, I know we covered a lot of products, so people are like, oh my gosh, how can I implement all of this? You actually said that. When we first… connected. So, will you just kind of give us, as we end today, like, how you've tried everything, and really why this was so set apart, and what that looked like for you, personally, as we end today? Well, I can say one thing that completely stuck out for me with having gut issues, parasites, all these things, and also having celiac. Guys. 89 pounds, it didn't matter if I ate all those good, healthy superfoods. I wasn't absorbing them. I couldn't, because my gut lining was so messed up. So that's why I was doing IV therapy and all these things. Protandem NRF2 helps heal your cells. Well, what's all in the gut lining of your gut lining? Is your cells. Get your cells healthy, guess what's gonna happen? Your body is going to be able to absorb nutrients better, and that was the absolute golden ticket for my health. It saved my life. Truly, it did.
